COVID-19 is a highly infectious respiratory illness caused by the novel coronavirus. It was first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and has since spread to become a global pandemic.

The symptoms of COVID-19 can range from mild to severe and can include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Body aches
  • Sore throat
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

It is important to note that not all people with COVID-19 will experience symptoms, and some people may only experience mild symptoms.

There are several ways to detect COVID-19:

  • RT-PCR (Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction) test: This test is used to detect the presence of the virus in the body. It is usually conducted by taking a swab from the back of the throat or nose.
  • Antigen test: This test is used to detect specific proteins that are found on the surface of the virus. It is a rapid test that can provide results within 15-30 minutes.

It is important to seek medical advice if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus. Your healthcare provider will advise you on the best course of action and can refer you for testing if necessary.
